The ICGA 2009 convention was held at the Holiday Inn Airport, Des Moines, IA. It was basically a great facility for us, except it did require quite a bit of walking from our room area to our convention room. Brian Pitman loved the big, round tables outside his room where he was able to hold court each night until the wee hours! There were all kinds of crazy, creative things going on with the iPhone and the laptop, but it was all in good taste and we hope no one was offended.

Eunice and I were in charge of the “Magnificent Marigold” display room and that took a lot of our time. We had excellent members helping us and that really made the job easier for all of us. We hope that everyone enjoyed looking at almost two hundred fifty beautiful marigold pieces that were on display. THANKS everyone who brought glass and who helped in any way with the display.

The Hospitality Room was managed by Cathy Dunham with help from Roger, Nathan, Dakota, Jenny Bergman, and Shirley Patterson. Not only was it full of great food items, the silent auction was there, too. The ice cream dippers did a good job, too. It was delicious and the toppings just added that extra taste that we all love.

It was nice having all of our seminars and meals in the display room. Everyone was able to view the display and be where they needed to be for the next activity. The activities in that room were the Marigold display and seminar by Gary Lickver, “The Other U. S. Glass Companies,” seminar by Carl and Eunice Booker, games by Roger and Cathy Dunham and Don and Barb Chamberlain, the luncheon and business meeting, the banquet, the “Mug” seminar by Roger and Cathy Dunham, the awards by Lee Markley, the whimsey sale, and the farewell until next year.

It is hoped that everyone at the convention had a good time and that they are eager to know where the 2010 convention will be so that they may get their reservations made early.
