Well, ICGA
members, the 2006 convention is over and what a
good time we had! We have not been able to
attend for a couple of years, so we really
enjoyed our old friends and new ones alike.
The seminars
were all great and the banquet seminar ended
them on a really high note. Of course, I may be
a little prejudiced, but Bert and I are very
proud of our daughter (Cathy Dunham). She was
very easy to raise and has always stayed that
way. We’re proud of our son-in-law, Roger, too.
As always I
enjoyed my visit with Harold Cox. I kinda like
plates and I think he has taught me more about
plates over the years than I could have
imagined. Harold, I will try to be there next
year, the Good Lord willing.
I had a nice
long visit with the Meads while I was looking
for Harold one afternoon. May have bored them
because we got off of Carnival Glass and onto a
discussion about diabetes, as I am a diabetic.
Carol said she needed some help trying to get
Harry to watch his sugar count closer. But that
is a subject for some other time. Oh, yes,
Carol, I will try to bring two or three rugs
next year so you can see what we do to try and
generate some income as you all know Social
Security is not paying all the bills.
We enjoyed the
trip to the Amana Colonies, and our meal was
great. Good job, Don, Barb, and Brian.
We were able to
bring home three or four very nice pieces of
glass for our collection in our price range that
had beautiful color and iridescence. The Banquet
meal was great, but then we always enjoy
buffets. I think the Chamberlains and Brian need
to be highly commended. You left a tough act to
follow.
Of course Ann’s
Hospitality Room always leaves us wondering why
we ate so much. Ann, you save us all so much on
meal money. It’s unbelievable what it would add
up to for so many of us. Keep up the good work!
Any member who
did not get to attend missed a great time. I
hope to see you all next year.
